Reflections of a Picnic ‘Past’
The fog lifted, the sun came out. Signs went up, coffee was perked, and donuts brought. People trickled in, filled their coffee mugs, grouped together. Stories began to unfold; Smiles and laughter were quickly shared....
…Our church's 'family' picnic had begun
Children happily competed in the games. Grandmothers carried babies as parents helped their young ones. Cheers and encouragement were heard from the spectators. Pictures were taken and happy memories made. Under the shelter a game of ‘checkers’ was being played…
…best of all...
….Mingling happened
Lunch was eaten. People trickled in. Young children went home for naps. Horseshoes were pitched; sand raked, and scores kept. There were winners and losers…
…best of all...
…Fun happened
Baseball was played. Players fell, injuries happened. Hardly used muscles were strained. Crowds cheered. Heads nodded a special welcome as Simon & Jean arrived…
…best of all....
…Caring happened
Meat was barbecued, tables set. People trickled in.
A prayer was spoken. Stomachs were filled.
A 35th wedding anniversary was celebrated with dessert…
…best of all...
…Sharing happened
Songs were sung. God's word was spoken. Young adults professed their faith; families welcomed, children baptized. A very young child was overheard to say, "When is it my turn to be bathtized"?
…best of all
...Celebration happened
People were blessed...
…and best of all
...God was honored!!
