God is a God of global purpose. God has already put in our hearts the longing to be a friend to a great God, to somehow become a co-worker with Him, living in the dignity of a purpose larger than ourselves. We really want to serve God in the biggest way we know how. What prevents us? Our problem may be a matter of shriveled vision. Jesus had one prevailing theme in His teaching: the Kingdom of God. He used this theme to call people to follow Him. He used that language to enlist His friends to follow Him further. These people pray and labour for nothing less than His Kingdom coming on earth as it is in heaven. Such a pursuit of Christ's Kingdom is the heart of all true hoping. It is the soul of all praying. The Kingdom of God is the core of all mission. Christ's mandate to us spells out our assignment to continue the work that He began during His life until it is complete in every people.
